Simple Business Invoicing & Inventory (SBII) is a comprehensive sales management system that includes: invoicing, inventory management, automated billing, both physical and email mailing list management, and sales tracking. Invoices, bills, and statements can be printed on plain paper or emailed directly to customers.
SBII features an intuitive graphical interface with pop-up menus and pick lists that minimize typing.
Inventory is automatically tracked when items are sold and the program offers extensive customer tracking. Reports include customer profiles, product sales analysis, inventory, income, sales tax, cost of goods sold, etc.
Bills, invoices and customer statements can be emailed directly to customers using a standard SMTP email server.
SBII can also be used to send simple newsletters or special notices via email to selected groups of customers in your mailing list.
Customer lists and product definitions can be imported from delimited text files (i.e., *.csv, *.cgi, etc.).
SBII can be configured to automatically compute two sales taxes (e.g., Canadian GST and PST).
SBII can be used alone or in conjunction with OWLs Simple Business Accounting (SBA) to provide complete tracking of both sales income and business expenses.
SBII requires Windows 95 or above, A hard disk with approximately 2 Megabytes of available space and access to an SMTP compatible email server for email capability.

I have used this software to handle invoicing and inventory for my small publishing business. In almost every respect, it does the job very well and is very easy to use. I have no experience with competing packages, so can't direclty compare, but it is certainly the least expensive of the options of I have found. My only complaints are the following:
(1) Name and address fields for customers don't allow enough characters per line for some customers, especially at some foreign addresses or at institutions like universities. It is sometimes a headache to construct an abbreviated version of an address that is still complete and unambiguous.
(2) Occasionally, I need to use one name/address for the invoice and a different address to ship the product to. This software doesn't provide for separate invoicing and shipping addresses.
(3) When you print shipping labels, you have to select the ones to be printed by way of a range of dates. There is no provision for selecting an individual label to be printed based on, say, invoice number, so you need to twiddle the dates of the invoices sometimes to print out only the ones you want. Mildly annoying when you find yourself preparing new shipments after already having prepared labels from earlier the same day.
Overall, I recommend SBII as a good, cost-effective solution for a micro-business, but I hope the above limitations will be addressed in a future version.
