NoteTab Standard/Light is a well-designed replacement for the Windows Notepad.

NoteTab handles multiple files and provides handy notebook-style tabs for switching between open files.

NoteTab has unique ClipBook window that makes it easy to insert HTML tags, smilies (such as ':-)'), HTML color codes, and other frequently used text items. The ClipBook window can be placed to the right or left of the main window, and you can insert a ClipBook item by simply selecting and double-clicking.
