Spell Magic awarded Softpile Most Popular

When writing, whether in a foreign or in a native language, mistakes are inevitable. Wrong grammar as well as confused and misspelled words results in bewildering business letters and amusing website content. The Spell Magic program does not analyze grammar or find most often confused words. Its mission is to retrieve text from any Windows applications and carry out a spell check.

Actually, to get profit from spelling mistakes is possible. For example, if we are interested in getting traffic from search engines initiated by misspelled words. Yet, to sound illiterate is hardly in style nowadays. Spell Magic helps when you work with a Windows application which doesn't have a built-in spell checker: Notepad, MExplorer, etc.

The SmartBar reflects the set of the program's options and functions.

It is most convenient to use Spell Magic with the help of hotkeys. While working with a text, let us say in Notepad, we just press them to Spell Check All or to Spell Check Selected. With the help of hotkeys we can also copy text to Spell Check ClipBoard. I will mention when we might need it a bit later. The Options section allows to set hotkeys for every possible check.

Be ready that not all applications will allow you to check your texts, databases or spreadsheets via Spell Check All and Spell Check Selected. This is when we have to use the ClipBoard because ALL applications respond to the spell method. Manually selecting and copying text content, we put it into the Spell Check Clip. Clicking the corresponding icon (one of the ways), we open the Spelling window, and correct misprints or mistakes. Having done the correction, we can return to the application and insert the automatically saved text. It's how the Spell Check Clip works.

Actually, Spell Check ClipBoard may be initiated in a variety of ways, using the ClipBoard HotKeys, Single or Double clicking the Spell Magic icon which resides in the Windows System Tray, via the right-click popup menu and, as I already mentioned, via the SmartBar's Spell Check Clip button.

Pay attention to the the Auto-Correct button which is a useful feature dealing with common spelling mistakes. It memorizes a pair of words: a one from the Text field and a one from the Replace With field as an auto-correct pair, for example prefered – preferred. In future, spelling of such words is corrected automatically.

The Spelling Options allows to make the process most preferable and convenient for you. Users set whether or not to check and correct spelling as they type, or whether or not to ignore words in uppercase or containing number. Here we can also choose the dictionaries on the bases of which correction will be done.

Different applications and Spell Check Modes.

Once again, to avoid the problem of not responding, the developers of the program gave us the opportunity to set check modes. The general idea is that some in some applications we do well under the Normal Spell Check Mode, in others to retrieve text, we have to enable the Compatibility Mode. We can set them in the Options window. In my humble opinion, the information and the option itself are rather excessive. Just set everything available in order not to return to this anymore. But mind that, in some cases, neither of check modes guarantees the work WITHOUT use of the Check Clip.

Another convenience which few people can find useful is Instant Spell. It's a mini-editor and it is intended to be a "quick way to open a window to check spelling of a word or two". As to check spelling without working with words in a certain application is quite a rare situation, Instant Spell is not likely to become your indispensable daily helper.

Of course, the lion's share of whether you find Spell Magic a really good program depends on the quality of dictionaries. The program allows dictionary upgrade. That is you can install some from these offered by Spell Magic. The number of dictionaries is about 40, of different languages, general and special. As for the dictionaries' contents, try the program and decide if you are content with this of your native language.

In general, the program produces a good impression. I wouldn't say Magic is the word reflecting what this program really is, but if your grammar is perfect and you have spend some time to adjust Spell Magic to be used with some particular applications, you might like the results. Why not.
