With modern technologies the world is becoming a smaller and smaller place. We get news form all corners of the world by means of mass media, we communicate through the internet with people from different countries and different time zones on a daily basis. Sometimes, it is not easy to keep track of what time, or even what day it is in different parts of the world. The program World Timer is an interactive world atlas giving the information on local time as well as sunrise and sunset times in several hundred cities worldwide. You can see the daylight, twilight and night zones. To be precise, the twilight zone shown in the maps is the so-called nautical twilight zone, i.e. the zone in which the sun is not more than 12 degrees below the horizon.
World Timer allows you to customize any number of clocks in different time zones. You decide how many clocks you want to display and decide on a time zone for each. Each clock can be displayed as an analog clock face, or as a digital time. Taking into account that everyone has his own personal colour and font preferences, so World Timer gives you the opportunity to alter all text and choose different colours and fonts for different elements (date, time, background etc). Also, you can add to the features of this program a Countdown Timer, giving it a description and configure the target date and time. You can even choose a sound to be played when the timer reaches its target. You may see the world map in two possible views with and without superimposed world time zones on top of this map. You can also choose to superimpose an image of the current day and night areas on top of the world map. The interface of this program is the main clock window, it can be kept on top of other windows so that you can always check it at a glance. If the clock window disappears, a quick click on the World Timer icon in the system tray will bring it to the top again.
When you run World Timer for the first time, there will be one default clock displayed. This clock is the Local clock which displays the date and time for the local time zone. Using the dialog "Configure World Time", you can make over World Timer according to your preferences, changing the clocks, appearance, text labels, time synchronizations and other features.
Configuring clocks, you can add a new one by clicking on the "Add Clock" button in the Clock Toolbar. In this way, a new clock will be added at the end of the clock list. Besides this, it is possible to add a countdown timer, move a clock, change existing clocks, disable a clock and so on. As for configurations of World Timer appearance, you can change the colour of the background in the clock display window. In order to do this, you should simply click on the "Background Colour" button and use the "Colour Selection" dialog that pops up to select the colour you desire. In the similar way the colours used to display the various features of analog clocks may be changed. When you look at the map, you may see the position of the sun at the very moment. But this option also can be varied. To choose how to display the sun on the World Map, you should simply check the appropriate button: "Always", "Never", or on "the Night / Day Display" only.
Among other useful functions I'd like to mention some words about "Convert Time" tool, this tool allows you to convert any given time in one time zone into the equivalent time in another time zone. To master and use all possible features of World Timer, you should try these functions yourself and choose the most appropriate for you. At any rate, with World Timer you'll always keep track of multiple clocks around all over the world in a simple and easy to configure manner.
