As part of this design goal, SocksvrQ was built to scale multiple processors, and take advantage of Windows NT specific performance features (such as I/O Completion Ports). Features include sync/asyn connects with timeouts, multi-threaded sending/receiving, the ability to configure the number of threads in the I/O thread pool, support for multi-homed machines, access to socket options to change Winsock headers for connection customization, and more, all while still providing a simple interface to interact with.
