A trial version of Pokemon World allows to travel around only some parts of the fairy-tale world, to have a duel with only one, and train as many as 2 pokemons.

Pokemon World developers got inspired by a popular Japanese anime. Below follows the information especially for those who have never heard about Pokemons. Pokemons are very specific animals. They can be of all sizes and shapes, and every pokemon has its own character. For example, some pokemons live in water; others live in caves or in high grass. Some pokemons look like a plant, or like an animal. There are some species that look like ghosts! There are widely spread pokemons like Pidgey or Caterpie, and also there are some unique pokemons.

In spite of some obvious weaknesses, such as a bit too intuitive interface, absence of a map to check your way, or annoying music Pokemon World is quite interesting to play. The graphics is neither amazingly good, nor extremely bad. All characters and pokemons are developed in accordance with the cartoon. All necessary menus and choices appear as a situation develops. The pokedex (the "thermometer" on the right) shows all the pokemons you have.

So, what to do to amuse yourself while walking around the fairy-world:

Duels.

Why do we need duels? The first reason is that pokemon duels is sport. Such duels are very important for your pokemon, because he receives new experience and learns new duel skills. You can make a frendly duel with other trainers. As a trainer you choose which type of attack your pokemon must use, when it must attack, etc.

Another reason is that a duel is the best and the most honest way to catch a wild pokemon. Wild pokemons have the lowest level of skills, so it isn't very hard to catch it. You can meet them everywhere: in forests, in caves, and even in city parks! (In the trial version of Pokemon World you will meet only one wild pokemon - Caterpie). Of course if you don't want to have a duel with a wild pokemon, you can buy it, but you can't take pokemons that belong to other trainers, even if you have won a duel.

In the trial version of Pokemon World you are the only coach. A trial version doesn't provide any proves whether or not it is possible to contest with other trainers in a full version of Pokemon World. Let us hope, we will. And don't forget after every duel to visit poke-center to heal your pokemons.

Pokeball.

To catch a wild pokemon you need a pokeball. Every pokeball can hold only one pokemon, so if you are going to catch a pokemon, you must have a considerable amount of pokeballs. A lot of pokemons are able to leave a pokeball only when you give them a right command. Some pokemons can be, deep in their souls, against of sitting in a pokeball, but only Pikachu can refuse to sit there preferring to travel on foot.

Catching a pokemon.

Pokemons never die during a duel. They weaken and can lose consciousness. To catch one, you must try to weaken the pokemon during a duel as much as possible, and then use a pokeball. But nobody can guarantee that an evasive pokemon will not run away from a pokeball.

And now some FAQ and answers which you will not find in the Help section or Pokemon World description. It's a valuable experience of the author of the review, based on the long hours of playing and watching Pokemon cartoons.

Q. My pokemon doesn't want to listen to my commands. He doesn't want to sit in a pokeball and when I want him to fight with other pokemons, he goes asleep during the duel.

A. Pokemons don't believe you if you don't have enough experience. A good method to show that you have enough experience is to win a symbol-badge. They show that you can do your work well. For example, here are some specifications:

A Water symbol:
Pokemons under 30-th level will obey to you.
A Rainbow symbol:
Pokemons under 50-th level will obey you.
A Swamp symbol:
Pokemons under 70-th level will obey you.
An Earth symbol:
All pokemons will obey you.

Conclusion.

Pokemon World is best for the auditorium of 4 – 10 years old. This game has no menus, but you don't need to safe the game because neither your pokemon nor you can die. ;-) When you start playing, your first idea might be that Pokemon World is a bit disappointing and boring. But then, while playing you will enter a full of different adventures parallel universe of pokemons and, finally, come to like this unpretentious but gripping game.
