Drug Wars - Underworld
![]()
Everything pleasant in the life is either illegal, immoral or makes you fat. Drug Wars - Underworld is not a game for everyone. This game's setting is one which is geared towards mature audience. And though it does not encourage or condone the use, selling, or buying of illegal substances, Drug Wars is not the tool to enforce morality too. It plunges you into the drug dealers' world, the world full of hardship and dangers. Your target is to make money and survive. Drug Wars – Underworld is a smart, thoroughly designed and addictive game. Events develop so we are constantly to be on the alert. Subtle humor and unpredictable situations with a variety of ways out make us want to try our luck again and again. You launch your business with 2,000 in cash and 5,000 debt. Buying and selling products will assure your forthcoming welfare in Drug Wars - Underworld. Move around 5 districts of NY City. Buy cheap, sell expensive. Pay debts when they are due and settle problems with cops, mafia and gangsters.
The main window displays all essential for the game information. The upper left corner displays your location and reminds you names of cops, mafia and gangsters you might be spotted and approached by. A click on the location square will also move you into the next day. Right now you are absolutely healthy (100%) and don't need to go to the doctor (+). Your trench coat pockets are 54% full of Ecstasy. If any troubles, you can count on your strong bare hands and quick feet only. Theoretically you can go shopping ($$) and squander your $2 in cash. You really wish your bank account grew as fast as you $7,273 debt. To your convenience, market can be sorted by name, availability, or price, and a pop-up window will notify you what amount of a product you can afford to buy. But do not forget: you cannot...spend more money than you have in cash, and you cannot...carry more than your available trench coat space.
Drug dealers are also human beings. And they have different temperaments. Some fight on the least occasion, some prefer to negotiate. You can set different preferences to make Drug Wars – Underworld meet your ideas and sound more realistic: choose currency, define terms of depositing with the bank, set combat delay, enable/disable violence. I enabled violence, applied sound effects such as cries of injured or killed attackers, whining of bullets, airport security alarm, and, frankly speaking, it didn't look crueler than every second Hollywood movie.
When you have a small amount of spare money, it's highly advisable that you go to the shop and buy some amours to protect yourself. Pistols, rifles, baseball bats, bullet proof vests are at your disposal. When you are rich enough, buy a motorcycle. You'll be able to change your location twice a day.
Unfortunately, unstable economic situation is not the only matter to take into account. Cops and mafia are following you and on a certain day a loan shark will want his money back. These are serious guys and know exactly what they want. It's possible to run from them only if you have a vehicle. Otherwise, you have to resolve the situation in different ways. By the way, all of them accept bribes, cops included.
Statistics window allows you to get detailed reports on all events of a game. That is you can study how a situation developed in the case of your bank account, buys and sells, encounters, health and inventory, etc., and so to profit by your own mistakes. To sum it up I appraise Drug Wars – Underworld very highly. The game is not moralistic, but realistic. Change weed for flour, ecstasy for coffee, the enthusiasm from making money will be the same. Then why sell drugs, not milk? To indulge people's passion for everything forbidden and to create a market deprived of national peculiarities. Laws of violence and power, mafia, gangs, corruptible cops, merciless loan sharks make Drug Wars - Underworld an internationally comprehensible game. While Geek Phase Company reminds you that every person is responsible for their own actions, and that this is just a game.
