PteroSplit is a cross platform application to split file and recover them. It is entirely written in Java, does not need any installation. Files can be splitted on one platform and rejoined in a different one.

PteroSplit is release under GPL license. Link is for Window specific zipped exe, other format (source tarball, Mac OsX bundle, and jar) are available on PteroSplit site.
