Ashampoo Internet Accelerator 3
![]()
The market of Internet accelerators is saturated and highly competitive. Flashing and crying out, they resemble an oriental market. Up to 150 %!! Up to 300%!! By 500%!! Are you guys so smart? Don't the guys developing browser and system software care about such a gap? Anyway, on such a "promising" market, Ashampoo Internet Accelerator developers tell about an average 30% and look different. Are they bad marketers, or a realistic and honest team? Ashampoo Internet Accelerator is one tool from the Ashampoo WinOptimizer Suite. It can be used independently to find out which internet settings best suit your internet connection to tune it and to improve performance. It accelerates the downloading/uploading processes and so saves time, money and obviously - nerves. If bought with other tools of the set (also cleaning and tuning), it saves even more money. Ashampoo Internet Accelerator works under windows system and performs with browsers IE v 4.0 or higher.
It's how its main window looks. The text on the right is detailed explanations of what to do and how many times to think before doing it. Here it's described every possible situation in which Ashampoo Internet Accelerator will provide no or minimal benefit. Sounds funny, but, frankly speaking, I appreciate such an approach: it makes users partners, rather than an object to fool. They can't be bad marketers after all. First of all, how it works. There are two ways to tune (or derange) your computer: automatic and manual. Regular, but not advanced users are recommended to use an automatic one. Don't forget to create a backup copy of your present settings and you are welcome to experiment. Thought, the field for experiments is not wide: select an adapter and optimize it for your type of connection. The option "All Available Adapters" makes the process substantially easier.
To prove you haven't managed to make your connection worse, test it. A downloading speed can vary greatly depending on present circumstances, but still we are able to assess a relative improvement (or vice versa). So, download a file, note a speed, make changes in settings and download the same file once again. The quicker you do it, the more accurate will be the assessment. The figures which I had were, in average, 65 and 88 Kbps. I seem to have got an improvement by 35%.
The improvement you achieve will vary considerably depending on hardware you use, connection type, the speed of the internet server, the performance of your provider and how well your computer was configured. Let us suppose you'd like to try Manual tuning. You can experiment with two types of settings. 1. Before data is sent over the Internet, it is first divided into parts - data packets. Later, at the other end, they are reassembled. Transfer time is not just based on the bandwidth of your connection, but also on how efficiently these data packets are handled: it depends on routing paths and the sizes of the packets. Manual 1 window lets you work with these parameters.
2. There is one more aspect affecting connection speed. When sent between PCs, the data packets are numbered. Having received them, PCs use the packet numbers to put the data back together in the correct order. Some of the packets may get lost or delayed. If your computer waits too long to ask for a missing packet of data to be resent, your Internet connection will stall waiting for data to arrive. If your computer requests missing packets too quickly, unnecessary duplicate packets could flood your Internet connection, also slowing it down. Manual 2 window allows to conduct some experiment on the aspect. But, once again, don't neglect making a backup copy of your present settings.
That's it as for Ashampoo Internet Accelerator's mission. But I can't keep from mentioning an additional feature developing users' creativity: program's fully customizable text. A rare program gives us an opportunity to change all the texts displayed in it. Ashampoo Internet Accelerator does. Do not like the sentence? You are welcome to type in what we like better, as well as to translate it into other languages. To sum everything up, the program is smart, intuitive and easy-to-use. It rather reasons than promises, but does exactly what it promises. Worth trying.
