KeyText is a flexible and powerful tool that allows automating work with texts and entire system. The program can paste prepared texts (using hotkeys or contextual menu), ask user for information with dialog windows, emulate pressing of keyboard buttons, run programs, press buttons and fill text fields in windows of any programs (including web-pages) and perform some more useful duties.

The main function of the program is to ease work with text fields. With KeyText one can paste prepared texts in any text fields or run macros in any programs by pressing hot key or clicking right mouse button (when holding Shift, Ctrl or both, depending on how you set it up). In a full version of the program more than 200 items (storage cells) can be filled with various texts or macros.

I would like to demonstrate how to work with the program on a real example. To display the program's main window I click right mouse button in the system tray and choose "Edit text items":

I would like to set item A for pasting my usual email ending text ("Best regards, …"). In first step I delete the sample text from this item and run "Insert Field Wizard" from the menu Items:

This wizard helps to create fields (lines of structured text) which will be executed consequently. In the beginning of the script I would like to have a comment informing what this script should be used for. To paste a comment field, I choose "A comment" button, and then press Next in the wizard. In the next window I simply enter the text of the comment and press Finish:

Now in the script after the created comment field I enter the text that I want to be pasted when this script is executed.

I also would like to have some sound played after paste action has been performed. A field that will do this can be easy set with the same Insert Field Wizard, choosing the button "Play a sound", and in a next window defining the sound file.

Finally, I set a name for the created script in item A "Email end". This name I enter in the top right angle of the program window (where for the sample script of item A "Have a great day!" was written):

Let's test now the work of the item A with writing an email in one popular email server. Since I have set KeyText to display its contextual menu when holding Ctrl key and clicking right mouse button, I do so in the place where I want my text to be pasted. In the displayed menu I choose "Email end" (the name of the item A that we have set before) to paste the text:

As you can see, it is very easy to set the program for performing particular action, and it is no need to study any macro language. In the same way as I have shown, further fields for a script can be created to paste text from the clipboard (with some preprocessing if necessary), process selected text, ask user to enter some data in dialog window, emulate work of keyboard and mouse, run any programs, press buttons or fill text fields in windows of any running programs (including web-pages) and run other scripts from the current one. Moreover, KeyText can be set to run some scripts on the schedule (once or periodically).

As to the schedule feature, there is also an Organizer that helps to manage all the scheduled scripts. To run the Organizer, one should press right mouse button on the program icon in the tray and choose item "Organizer". In the same menu you will find "Settings" item that opens a window with many settings of the program. In particular, you can set here what key (Ctrl or Shift) should be held to display the KeyText menu with right mouse button click.

To conclude, I consider KeyText to be very flexible tool that can automate your work not only with text fields, but also with the entire computer. It seems to be absolutely not one of those almost useless programs which can not do much but take some precious resources of the system, but a really useful and powerful low-level utility. Of course, to work with such a powerful tool some skills and understanding of system operation would be helpful, but thanks to easy-to-use interface and convenient script editor even beginner users could solve a lot of tasks with this program. Besides, the program has a small Help, and there is also a Discussion forum on the developer's website, where some further application issues (such as setting KeyText for automation of Windows Dial-up, or for closing all opened windows in the system) are discussed.
