1. Improved recognition of HP-PCL concatenated sequences and HP printer fonts; 2. You can specify multiple recipients when sending a print job via e-mail as a PDF attachment without user intervention; 3. The optional CFG file can be automatically deleted after the source job has been printed;

v 5.6 updated on Jun 13, 2008

1. Easier registration, by importing a single PFL file even for multiple licenses; 2. Quicker PDF creation by the Printfil virtual printer; 3. Added recognition of ASCII-8 (backspace) when printing in GDI mode; 4. New DelayStartup option; 5. Improved Font Autofitting function;

v 5.5 updated on Jan 29, 2008

1. capture up to 9 parallel ports (from LPT1: to LPT9:) faster and easier; 2. The Choose (printer) option now works even when Printfil is setup to print in RAW mode. This is particularly useful on Terminal Server environments; 3. Added ability to setup the number of copies by escape sequences;

v 5.4 updated on Dec 29, 2007

v 5.2 updated on Apr 26, 2007

1. An optimized GDI rendering engine now makes the print job creation process faster of about 30-50% on average, expecially if Preview is enabled; 2. Simplified Terminal Server installations. It's no nore needed to write complex logon scripts and manually replicate the Printfil.ini file to run multiple Printfil instances on the server with different configurations for the different users; 3. Licenses centralization on the network server. When Printfil is used on a network (either peer-to-peer or in Terminal Server environments) now the license codes are stored all in once, on the server, without having to register each single client anymore; 4. Environment variables recognition in the "File to check" field, in addition to the already supported wildcards (* and ?); 5. Improved Windows Vista compatibility; 6. When creating the Printfil virtual printer used to capture the DOS LPT1: port, you can now choose on which location the temporary file containing the captured output will be stored; 7. Added user interface in Arabic and Finnish languages; 8. Some other minor improvements and bug fixes;

v 5.0 -1- updated on Jul 14, 2006

1.Added the ability to automatically send via e-mail the PDF files created by the "Printfil" virtual printer and GhostScript, by using the standard e-mail client program which is already installed in the client machine, without needing additional third party software The e-mail can be sent interactively or in background, even prefilling it with an a destination address, subject and body, provided by your source application through the optional CFG file. 2.Print preview has been enhanced with a renewed graphic and a new rendering engine, which makes it much more WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) than in past, in particular way when the page is zoomed and with high resolution monitors; 3.The LPT capturing option has been enhanced. Now it's much faster in 32 bit systems and works also in 9x systems; 4.Added the ability to archive a copy of all the Printfil's captured jobs in a directory of your choice; either TXT files or the corresponding CFG ones. This can be used also to obtain your jobs simultaneously printed on two or more printers; 5.Added the ability to modify Escape sequences and the parameters used to create encrypted PDF files directly into the Printfil's configuration dialog, without having to restart the software in order to apply the changes; 6.Added support for EMF background files (Enhanced Meta Files), which works just like the WMF ones; 7.Added support for the Cpi8 escape sequence; 8.New Help features: Test Page and Dump of the last printed job, to help the configuration stage; 9.The Brazilian and Icelandic languages have been added;

v 5.0 updated on May 04, 2006

1.Added the ability to automatically send via e-mail the PDF files created by the "Printfil" virtual printer and GhostScript, by using the standard e-mail client program which is already installed in the client machine, without needing additional third party software The e-mail can be sent interactively or in background, even prefilling it with an a destination address, subject and body, provided by your source application through the optional CFG file. 2.Print preview has been enhanced with a renewed graphic and a new rendering engine, which makes it much more WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) than in past, in particular way when the page is zoomed and with high resolution monitors; 3.The LPT capturing option has been enhanced. v 4.3 updated on Nov 18, 2005

1. In addition to GDI printing, Printfil now supports RAW printing also. When printing in RAW mode, the source print job will be sent to the choosen printer AS IS, without going through the printer driver and without making any change to the embedded escape sequences. This allow very fast printing to dot-matrix printers (like in the DOS days, even if the printer is USB), printing jobs containing graphical printer commands (graphs, drawings etc.) and sending particular escape sequences to special printers (cut labels, open cash drawers etc.). RAW printing can be set globally or enabled/disabled for each single print job, even without user intervention; 2. By the optional CFG file you can now specify different BMP files to be included in the print job. Each BMP file can be placed in different sheet's positions and you can also decide on which page(s) to include them; 3. Added the ability to place a BMP file outside the sheet's margins. This allows, for example, adding a header (or a logo) to a legacy print job without having to modify the source application to add some blank lines on top of each page; 4. The RemLastChr option can now be set to remove more than a single character at the end of the print job. This avoid obtaining an extra blank page when printing from some applications, which were used to send different characters at the end of a job (usually some EJECT - FF or CR-LF chars) to ensure the last page would be always ejected by a legacy laser printer; 5. The Norwegian language has been added; 6. Some other minor improvements and bug fixes;

v 4.2 updated on Aug 08, 2005

1.A new "Personal Edition" License is on sale for private - non commercial - use, at a lowered price. http://www.printfil.com/eprice.htm The Personal Edition does not have any functional limit when compared to the standard version, but, once registered, the software must be activated on the PC, so an internet connection is required within 30 days from the initial registration; 2.Added the ability to create encrypted (40-bit RC4) and password protected PDF files via GhostScript (a GS upgrade may be required on the client machine: GPL GhostScript 8.15 or newer) You can enable/disable permission to: Print document, Modify contents of document, Copy text and graphics from document, Add or modify text annotations; 3.The "Printfil" virtual printer (useful for creating PDF files and capturing the parallel port's output) now can be automatically created with a single mouse click (only on old Windows 9x/ME systems there are still a few little things which have to be completed manually, by following instructions in the manual) ; 4.In the Printfil's configuration dialog (and the Printfil.ini file) 3 fields has been added: Rows, Cut Rows and Columns. Previously the default values were: 66 , 0 and 0 and could only be changed by the optional CFG file. Settings in the CFG file continues to take precedence to these settings; 5.Added the ability to set each single print job (by the optional CFG file) to ask the end user for the destination printer (Choose), whether to show the Preview or not (Preview), and the number of chars to use for the Auto-Landscape orientation (AutoLand), independently by the Printfil.ini default settings; 6.The Hungarian language has been added; 7.In the preview window, on some cases the "zoom factor" menu entry could not work correctly. Fixed; 8.Some other minor improvements and bug fixes;
