AstSMS is a compact Asterisk add-on that enables sending SMS texts directly to SprintPCS mobiles via Asterisk Dialplan.
To make this module work, it is important to note that users must have the PHP4 Command Line Interpreter. It is also worth noting that the debian package is called "php4-cli." Compiling this program is as simple as typing "make." Once it compiles, copy the module to the Asterisk module directory and then move the included .php and .inc files to /usr/bin. It is important to note that these paths must be followed as they are hardcoded in the program, but the next release will address this issue. Restarting Asterisk is the final step.
This Dialplan app is designed to be used in extensions.conf. Users simply input information such as the destination 10-digit SprintPCS Phone Number, the sender's 10-digit phone number, and the message body itself. It is important to note that special characters should be avoided in the message body. The extension used in this example is _777,1,SendSMS(toNum,fromNum,message).
For email messages, users simply input the destination mailbox, the email subject, the message body and the sender's email address. These examples use arbitrary extension and priority numbers, but can be customized to fit different user needs.
