Big Board is a GNOME desktop sidebar that serves as an experimental panel.
Installation is relatively simple as the package comes with a self-installation feature. To begin installing, follow the instructions below.
First, 'cd' to the directory that contains the source code of the application. Once in the directory, type './configure' to configure the package to suit your system. Note that if you are using 'csh' on an old version of System V, you may have to type 'sh ./configure' to prevent 'csh' from attempting to execute the 'configure' itself.
Configuring the package may take a while. While the configuration process runs, it prints some messages indicating the features it is currently checking for.
The next step is to type 'make' to compile the package. Optionally, type 'make check' to run any self-tests that come with the package.
Type 'make install' to install the programs and any data files and documentation that come with it. If you'd like to remove the program binaries and object files from the source code directory, simply type 'make clean'. To remove the files created by 'configure', type 'make distclean'. Keep in mind that the 'make maintainer-clean' target is mainly intended for the package's developers.
Overall, Big Board is a useful sidebar to have on your desktop, especially if you're using GNOME desktop, OnlineDesktop/Server, or Mugshot. Its easy installation process makes it a preferred choice for many users.
