CocoaMIDI is a software tool that converts plain text files containing chord, timing, and volume commands into MIDI files. It simplifies the process of creating MIDI files by offering an easy-to-use interface.
With CocoaMIDI, users can input a variety of different chords, such as "E F# G# A B C# D# ^12^ E, which will play an ascending E major scale. As a bass player, I wrote this program because I sometimes need to hear actual chords played so I can test out some new bass lines.
Once opened, CocoaMIDI prompts you to select a plain text input file in the format described below. From there, you can save it as a MIDI file. This program works by converting chords in the text file, such as "A" or "F#", into a MIDI file, including variable note length, volume, and key.
Overall, CocoaMIDI is a simple, intuitive tool for musicians of all types. Best of all? It is available to the public domain, making it accessible for anyone and everyone to use. Try it out for yourself and take your music to the next level.
