This software restores the positions of icons on the desktop.
But what sets DIM apart from other applications and scripts that do the same thing? Well, for starters, DIM doesn't get confused when you store and restore your icon positions at different screen resolutions. So, if an icon is in the bottom right corner of your display when you store its position, it will always be in that same spot, no matter what your screen resolution is. This is a unique feature that only one other application provides, and they charge for it.
Other applications and scripts allow you to save multiple icon positions for different screen resolutions. While this might be useful if you frequently switch between different resolutions, it begs the question: why bother? Your Mac is perfectly capable of handling this task for you.
Keep in mind that DIM 2.0 only works with Mac OS 10.4 and later, while version 1.3.1 is available for Mac OS 7.x through 9.x. Unfortunately, there is no version of DIM that works with Mac OS 10.0 through 10.3.9, so keep that in mind when considering whether or not this app is right for you.
