Fedora 8 Developer Spin is a Live CD that offers Linux developers a customized distribution containing essential tools and software for coding purposes. It is based on the Fedora 8 Linux distribution.
To ensure that comprehensive yet concise information is available to users and contributors about the Fedora project, the Fedora Unity project was put in place. Made up of members of the community - including site maintainers, contributors, and users - this project's aim is to unify the community effectively. The team is responsible for creating websites that tie the different aspects of the Fedora community together, with the hope of preventing fragmentation and limiting duplication.
The Fedora Core, which is now available from Red Hat and other trusted mirror sites as a torrent, has been expanded on in this release to include four binary ISO images, four source ISO images, and is suitable for use on x86-64 as well as i386 and PPC machines.
The Fedora Project, sponsored and supported by Red Hat, is an open-source project that also serves as a testing ground for new technologies that may be integrated into Red Hat products at a future date. The Fedora Project is not a supported product of Red Hat, Inc.
The project's objective is to work hand in hand with the Linux community to create a complete and general-purpose operating system managed entirely by free software. Development activities are carried out publicly, with a focus on releasing about two to three versions of Fedora Core each year.
Besides the engineering team at Red Hat, the project is open to contributions from the open-source community, with the expectation of creating an operating system that appeals to this community. With this more open development process, the project hopes to provide a system that is more attractive to the open-source community by leveraging best practices and principles.
