FeedTicker is a desktop software that presents RSS news entries as scrolling tickertape for seamless and straightforward reading.
Some of the impressive features of FeedTicker include timely poll updates on your news feeds every half an hour, and the immediate scrolling of news across your screen whenever there is a change. You can also set it to loop entries continuously, to ensure that you have a constant supply of news. Clicking on a news entry will open up the link on your default browser, and a control or right-click opens an information window with additional details on the entry.
You can preface a set of entries with a Title label, clicking which will direct you to the website where the feed is from. A control or right-click on this title will open up a menu with all of the feed's entries. FeedTicker is customizable to run on any position on your screen or additional screens by dragging the 'tape' to a new location.
It can be set to run floating on top of all of your windows or under your icons on the desktop. All fonts, background, and foreground colors can be easily modified, and the software tool even does transparency. When new entries are introduced, the tickertape sound effects are a great touch. Plus, the cool transition animations provide an added touch of elegance.
FeedTicker's scrolling speed is entirely configurable, and all programming configurations can be modified in real-time through the preferences window, so there is no need to restart the feed ticker. The only limitation of unregistered versions is that they can only run one RSS feed.
Numerous updates have been made in this latest release of FeedTicker, including the addition of the Universal Binary attribute. Empty feed titles no longer prompt FeedTicker to lock up, and multi-lined feed titles render efficiently. A bug in the title's hashing function has also been fixed, and users with dragging issues on a left monitor can now use FeedTicker.
