FreeSynd is a free and open-source software that brings the classic game Syndicate to modern platforms. It is available for multiple operating systems and has a GPL license.
In the game, you'll encounter mind-altering CHIPS that manipulate your every perception of the outside world by stimulating your brain stems. These chips numb your senses to the misery and squalor around you, making you see the world in an idealized manner. With these chips, the corporations gained the perfect tool for manipulating the populace, leading to their unstoppable thirst for power.
The gameplay is impressive too. You can control custom-built cyborg agents and explore the world while hunting down rivals, traitors, and spreading the influence of the Syndicates worldwide. With sound and music, the game is operable, and with the first level playable, most of the menus and functions are complete and functional.
However, like any software, FreeSynd also has some known issues. There's a difference in Agent AI from the original game, the minimap is not complete, there are no trees on the map, and tax collection and other functionalities of the world map are not done.
Overall, for those who are into action games with a bit of a dystopian touch, FreeSynd is worth a try. With its immersive gameplay and exploration, you'll get to experience a world that's both fictional and dangerous in equal measure.
