As an avid fan of the beloved Futurama TV show, I was ecstatic when the entire series was released on DVD recently. It was a chance for me to relive the adventures of my favorite characters and catch up on any episodes I may have missed.
The brainchild of Matt Groening, the creator of The Simpsons, Futurama was set in the distant future and promised to be smarter and geekier than its predecessor. Unfortunately, Fox didn't quite "get" the show and often pre-empted it with football, moved its time slot around, and failed to properly promote it.
Despite its premature cancellation, Futurama has a dedicated fan base that continues to appreciate its unique humor, lovable characters, and quirky sci-fi premise. When it came time for Volume 4 of the DVD collection, I was initially hesitant to purchase it due to my exhaustion with creating Futurama icons.
However, I was pleasantly surprised to find that the robots in the show were a joy to create. Each one was visually distinct and memorable, making the task of designing icons a pleasure. The human characters were all relatively similar in appearance, but the aliens presented a fun challenge when it came to working with limited icon space.
Overall, I am thrilled with this Futurama icon set, which includes 12 icons instead of the usual 9. While it may be my last for a while, I am open to possibly creating more in the future. Who knows, there may even be new characters to iconize if rumors of the show's revival on Cartoon Network or DVD turn out to be true.
