gmbCrossword is a software that enables users to create Swedish-style crossword puzzles.
The tool is fairly easy to work with, but I did have some trouble getting it to use the Swedish translation. However, I suspect that was more of a user error than an issue with the application itself.
In the distribution file, you'll find databases for English, Swedish, and computer words. They're all relatively small (around 10,000-20,000 words), but you can import new words as needed. I also have a larger Swedish file with over 200,000 words, but that's not currently included in the distribution.
To use gmbCrossword, simply unpack the file in your home directory (or any other directory where you have write permissions) and make sure you have write permissions for the databases. The application file (gmbcrossword) can be stored anywhere in your path. The first time you use the program, you'll need to specify the path to the databases using the settings menu.
To get started, you'll need the following components: the Gambas runtime, QT and QT-Ext components, and the sqlite3 component.
The latest version of gmbCrossword comes with a few new features, including the ability to use +/- to adjust font size on your clues. We've also added a picture select button and enabled Ctrl-Click to select individual squares. Additionally, we've resolved the issues preventing the Swedish translation from working properly.
