ImageEngine Export allows users to export images from a PDF document into Adobe Photoshop files.
In cases where an image has the "DeviceN" or "Separation" color space, the software can treat it as either a grayscale image or a color image in an alternate color space. Moreover, it is also possible to embed an ICC profile into the Photoshop file if valid profile data is present in the PDF image structure.
The software comes in two options: the Standard-Edition ImageEngine Export 2.0 Std and the Pro-Edition ImageEngine Export 2.0 Pro. In the demo mode, the full functionality range of the software can be used but the resulting images will be marked by a framed cross. The Pro-Edition distincts from the Standard-Edition by the unlimited number of Watched Folders. Registered users of version 1.xx are entitled to update their software to ImageEngine Export 2.0 Std for free, and can upgrade to the Pro-Edition by paying the additional fee.
The software's latest release (version 2.0) includes several important fixes, such as fixing a problem that caused an empty folder to be left behind (instead of the folder with the exported image files) and resolving a resource conflict that could cause crashes under certain conditions.
The software requires a "Tiger" compatible operating system, Mac OS 10.1 or better (with Mac OS X 10.2 recommended), and Adobe Acrobat 5.05 or better (including Adobe Acrobat 6.0 and 7.0 Professional or Standard). Overall, ImageEngine Export 2.0 is a reliable and user-friendly tool for exporting PDF images as Adobe Photoshop files, with the added benefit of maintaining the original color space of most image types.
