Kpass is a password manager software that securely stores your internet login credentials such as usernames and passwords. It enables you to access your login information quickly and easily while protecting your data from unauthorized access.
Kpass works with popular protocols such as .htaccess and FTP, but it may not support every CGI program out there. The software allows users to copy and edit data quickly, as well as organising passwords into separate groups.
Additionally, Kpass is equipped with a backup function that provides full HTML lists of selected fields, groups, and passwords, allowing users to have various backup options. However, the security of the program is not very strong, as the password is in text format in the configuration file. It is recommended that users exit the desktop to provide better security.
The software currently lacks encryption functionality, but the developers have included it on their to-do list. Upon launching Kpass for the first time, the software creates a new directory named "$HOME/.kpass/" in your homedir, with the passwordfile named kpass.dat, which will be created once you've created your first group.
It's important to note that kpass.dat is not yet encrypted, but with its convenient features and user-friendly interface, Kpass remains a great tool for managing multiple passwords and usernames online.
