The ktexteditor-yankbuffer plugin is designed for KDE text editors, offering users an intuitive Emacs-style kill line (C-k) and yank (C-y) functionality.
An added advantage is the multiple yank buffers feature, which supports the creation of new yank buffers by pressing Ctrl+Alt+Shift+K. In doing so, the current line is moved to the new yank buffer, and it becomes the default buffer for future kill line and yank operations. Similarly, pressing Ctrl+Alt+Shift+Y inserts the current buffer in the document and removes it, making the previous buffer active.
The kill line feature works in the same way as it does in emacs, deleting the current line, including only the end-of-line (n) if the cursor is at the end of the line. If a text segment is killed, all lines are saved in the same buffer.
The installation process is simple and straightforward, requiring the execution of commands such as ./configure --prefix=/usr, make, and make install.
The default keybindings set for ktexteditor-yankbuffer are Ctrl + Alt + K for killing a line and Ctrl + Alt + Y for inserting the buffer at the cursor position. Ctrl + Alt + Shift + K for creating a new yank buffer that hides the previous one while killing the current line and placing it in the new buffer. Ctrl + Alt + Shift + Y for inserting the buffer at the cursor position, removing it, and revealing the previous hidden buffer.
However, these keybindings can be customized under Settings and Configure Shortcuts. Overall, ktexteditor-yankbuffer is an excellent plugin that should be part of every KDE text editor user's toolkit.
