Lubi software allows for the installation of Ubuntu on Linux without requiring a CD or partitioning process.
Lubi functions similarly to Wubi, but with one major difference; it uses GNU/Linux as the host system instead of Windows. The software has been tested on a wide range of host systems, including Sabayon 3.3 32-bit, PCLinuxOS 2007 32-bit, openSUSE 10.2 32-bit, Gentoo 2007.0 32-bit, Fedora Core 6 32-bit, Debian Sid 32-bit, Ubuntu 6.10 Edgy 32-bit, Ubuntu 7.04 Feisty 32-bit, and Xubuntu 7.04 Feisty 32-bit.
Additionally, Kubuntu 7.04 Feisty 32-bit, Xubuntu 7.04 Feisty 32-bit, and Ubuntu 7.04 Feisty 32-bit have been tested as guest systems. While other Linux-based operating systems should work with Lubi, it's essential to ensure that the required packages are installed.
It's important to note that Lubi won't work on systems that rely on LVM, EVMS, or another logical volume manager, or any filesystems other than ext2, ext3, reiserfs, vfat, ntfs, jfs, or xfs.
In this release, Lubi allows for installation to other partitions, has an updated GUI, and an added self-extracting install version. With all these fantastic features, Lubi makes Ubuntu installation on Linux more seamless and hassle-free.
