Lustro is a software application that enables users to export their Address Book contacts in comma or tab separated values, as well as in hCards format. It also has the functionality to overwrite Google Contacts.
Lustro creates a single file with a contact per line and separates each detail with a comma for CSV. If you prefer tab delimited format, it uses tabs to separate the contact details. For hCard or HTML vCard, Lustro creates a single XHTML file with all your contacts in hCards. This format is useful when publishing contact details on websites in a semantic way.
Lustro even overwrites all your Google Contacts with the ones in your Address Book, enabling you to use your Address Book contacts in any Google Contacts enabled application, such as GMail. The Google export is exported to Google directly.
Address Book supports various export formats, such as vCard, which is compatible with most address book applications and e-mail clients. You can create a vCard for a single person or a single vCard with multiple contacts. For a quick backup of all your contacts, you can export all your contacts to a single file using Address Book Archive. This format supports group information, making it more complete than the other formats.
Lustro still includes the Google Contacts export in case Address Book syncing doesn't work, as it only works if you've connected an iPhone or iPod Touch before. The syncing mechanism is also not perfect (e.g. company cards showing an empty name in the GMail contacts list).
Some of the key features of Lustro include Gmail-ready contacts, hCard export, CSV and TAB export for programs that require them, auto updates, Keychain to store your Google password, and availability in English and Dutch. Lustro will always be completely free for everyone to use.
Overall, Lustro is a well-designed and useful application that makes it easier to share contacts in various formats seamlessly. Note that Lustro is licensed and provided under the terms of the MIT License.
