Macromedia Flash Player X enables viewing of Flash animations on the web.
The purpose of the beta testing phase of the Flash Player is to gather feedback from users. This will enable Macromedia to verify that the updated version of the software is compatible with existing content. Developers can also use this opportunity to test content and applications to detect bugs across multiple machines and configurations. Furthermore, the updated installation mechanisms provide a smooth end-user installation experience.
It is important that users download the beta and provide feedback to verify that their content, as well as the content on frequently visited websites, work correctly with the upcoming version of the Flash Player. Requirements for the Macromedia Flash Player for Mac OS X version include OS X 10.1 or later and Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.1 or later, or Netscape 6.2 or later browser versions. If users do not have either version of the browser or operating system, they can use the Apple Software Update application within OS X or visit the respective companies' websites to update their software.
