This is a software implementation of the classic game Nine Men's Morris, in which players alternate placing pieces and attempt to form lines of three pieces, allowing them to remove one of their opponent's pieces. The game is played on a board of intersecting lines, providing a strategic challenge for players.
This software version of Nine Men's Morris offers players several features, including different rule-variants and board layouts to suit a player's preference. Not only can you play against the computer, but you can also use the program to display the board and play against another human player. Morris offers players the chance to try out a range of rule-variants, including the Lasker variant, where moves are also allowed in the set-phase. Other variants supported include the Möbius board, the Windmill board, the Pentagon and Hexagon boards, Morabaraba, Six and Seven Men's Morris, Tapatan, Achi, and Nine Holes. Additionally, the game boasts advanced AI controls to help tweak the AI playing style, provides hints for good moves and even shows principal variations.
Morris has other cool features as well, such as move takeback (undo and redo functionality), internationalization (with language support for English, German, and Chinese), many available board and rule variations, as well as free customization of rules. Customizable displays make it easy for players to configure the game to their liking. Overall, Morris is a great software implementation of Nine Men's Morris, loaded with useful features and the ability to support different rule-variants and board layouts.
