This Webmin module offers a variety of network utilities, such as ping, traceroute, nslookup, nmap, and whois. It is designed to assist with troubleshooting network issues and providing comprehensive information about network connectivity.
Installing this module is easy, simply log in to your Webmin as admin and go to the Webmin Configuration. From there, choose "Webmin Modules" and give the file in the first box. All installation methods should work. Once installed, the module will begin working to help streamline your network management.
The first options define where the module looks for the programs. The Automatic option will search for the program in the PATH and use it if found. However, in some cases, you may want to define it yourself, especially if you want to use a self-compiled program. The quick option allows for customized commands on the startpage, such as making a ping with 10 packets.
The module also includes options to allow other programs to be used if a check for one binary fails. It also allows for the old result to be kept if you want to use the next function. Additionally, the module has several servers for Whois-queries hard-coded, but you can define more in the last option as a comma-separated list.
This release includes a long-awaited update, with optical changes made to fit new standard webmin theme, cleanup and removal of dependency on Net::XWhois module. It now uses console tool like the other programs in the module.
Overall, the Network Utilities Module for Webmin is an excellent tool that will help you manage and improve your network performance. Give it a try and don't forget to send any reports via email.
