ODS Client is a client software for ODS' dynamic DNS service, facilitating domain name resolution while on the go. It is a fast, secure and reliable tool that helps users to connect to their servers easily from remote locations.
The app has been thoroughly tested on OS X 10.2, but it is believed that it will function with any OS version as low as 10.0.
The ODS Client comes with a plethora of features that make it stand out from other similar apps. Firstly, it will automatically update your host. The app attempts to update your host at a user-defined interval, ensuring that it is up-to-date. Secondly, the app uses the IP address from which you connect to the server to update the host. Thirdly, you can specify an IP address to update the host to. Finally, the app allows you to update more than one host at the same time.
The most recent release of the ODS Client has made some significant changes to the app. A daemon now runs at update.ods.org port 7069 to check for your external IP. This is in contrast to the preceding version, which used HTTP. The change was made to address problems that some users were having with transparent proxies provided by their ISPs.
The ODS Client has only one requirement: a free account with ODS. Once you have this, you can use the app as much as you want to keep your ODS hostname updated.
