What makes OptiVec particularly impressive is its use of vectorized implementation in Assembler. This allows the software functions to be 3-5 times faster, on average, than compiled Pascal source code of the same functionality. In addition, there is often an improvement in numerical accuracy.
Although the Shareware version is for the real-mode DOS target of Borland (Turbo) Pascal 7, all OptiVec functions are optimized for Pentium/Pentium Pro, but will run on computers down to 386+387. However, for the full version, additional, slightly faster units are included that require 486DX.
Overall, OptiVec is an excellent software package for anyone who needs to perform complex mathematical calculations quickly and accurately.
