PCI Extreme is a software that enables CoreGraphics hardware acceleration through PCI, enhancing the performance of graphics-intensive applications on compatible systems.
However, it's important to note that this patch only works for newer video cards. Older cards such as the Rage II, Rage 128 Pro, Nexus, and any Voodoo or nVidia cards will not be able to utilize hardware acceleration even with the patch. If the AGP version of your card can support a particular feature, then the PCI equivalent will be able to as well.
One downside to this patch is that since Apple hardcoded the settings into CoreGraphics, it is currently not possible to enable both AGP and PCI graphics quartz acceleration at the same time in 10.4. But if you know of a way to make it happen, please do let me know!
The newest release of this patch boasts improved Tiger support. No longer relying on MD5 sums and binary difference patches means that the program will never give an unsupported binary message ever again. This version has also been certified "safe" in 10.4.0, though using it with future versions is at your own risk.
