RTSynth is a Linux-based synthesizer that responds to MIDI events in real time.
It's important to note that Muse (version 0.6.0pre2) has a problem with MIDI pitch events when reading from a MIDI file. In order to get the right sound, playback should be done using pmidi.
In terms of requirements, the software needs libX11.so.6, libXext.so.6, libc.so.6, libm.so.6, and libpthread.so.0 in order to function.
RTSynth has undergone a number of cleanups and improvements in its most recent release. All old examples have been removed and replaced with current versions. Internal buffer sizes have been minimized and memory has been locked down when used in real-time mode. Additionally, the MIDI thread now runs by default in non real-time mode to prevent any interruptions to the audio stream. However, users still have the option to force MIDI real-time mode from the command line.
There have also been improvements made, such as the pitch bend frequency adjustment and the addition of a 6-pole formant filter to the multi output filter unit. Further, a gain controller has been added to pm-resonators in the drum synth. Overall, RTSynth is a powerful and versatile real-time synthesizer for Linux users.
