Sauver is a user-friendly and straightforward Operating System designed for conventional Intel or AMD-based computers.
When you start your PC with the Sauver CD, it recognizes most of your devices, so no time is wasted installing drivers. Once you're finished with Sauver, simply restart your PC. The CD will eject automatically, and everything will be exactly as it was before. Sauver is perfect in a situation where your system crashes, and you need your data back, but your operating system isn't booting. Just insert this CD, and you'll get a GUI interface like your crashed system, and you can recover your data quickly.
The primary goal of Sauver is to provide easy data recovery while keeping the CD's image small enough to be written to a 185 MB CD-R(W) medium, which is a small 8 cm CD. Sauver boots directly from the CD or USB devices. In terms of speed, Sauver stands out from other Live CDs. Other Live CDs contain all software in a single compressed file. It makes the system notably slow to run from a CD-ROM because different files are located in different places on the CD medium, so the CD drive has to seek frequently back and forth.
With Sauver, all conformable parts of the filesystem are compressed to a standalone file, which doesn't contain anything else. For example, all files that belong to Xwindow are packed in xwindow.mo, and KOffice related stuff is in koffice.mo, and so on. If you usually work in KOffice, you only need files from KOffice, and all files from that particular part of the filesystem are separated from the rest of it. Your CD drive has to seek only in a 10 MB area, which enhances speed.
Sauver has also included a range of features such as Linux kernel 2.6, the newest ALSA sound drivers, ndiswrapper for loading Windows drivers for WIFI cards, madwifi drivers for native support for WIFI cards (Multiband Atheros), X11 (xorg) Xwindow system, and many more. Sauver Standard CD contains Extra features such as a specially made Wifi Manager for Sauver, recover deleted files from NTFS (Win XP, NT) & FAT (Dos, Win 95, 98, Me, XP) partitions, save & restore your settings, and Partition Manager.
In summary, Sauver offers a simple and easy-to-use operating system that can be run from any removable media. It is ideal for data recovery purposes, and it stands out from other Live CDs in terms of its speed due to its unique way of compressing conformable parts of the filesystem. With Sauver, you can recover your data quickly and get back to working on a fully functional system.
