Thanks to VARS, MBARI's scientists have been able to produce numerous high quality quantitative and qualitative publications based on video data. The software can be utilized to annotate video data obtained from a variety of sources, including movie files such as QuickTime and AVI movies, as well as VCRs that support RS422 control.
Furthermore, VARS is a suite of three applications, all of which are written in Java and have been tested on both Macs and Windows PCs. These applications include the Knowledge-base, Annotation, and Query applications. Each of these applications provides users with unique and helpful functionalities that make using VARS a breeze.
