Amarok 2 boasts a web-based interface that allows users to access the media player through a browser. It offers seamless integration and easy access to the library from any remote location. This web interface is user-friendly and is definitely worth exploring.
Installation involves downloading the source code and placing it on the same computer as Amarok. Once installed, it's necessary to configure Webarok to show album art, requiring access to the filesystem folder where Amarok stores this information. Typically, the folder is /home/>/.kde/share/apps/amarok/albumcovers/. Configuration depends on the user's setup and can be completed by editing the line in Configuration/Configuration.py to specify the appropriate folder.
To start Webarok, ensure Amarok is already running, open a terminal, and enter "cd > python webarok.py." If everything is correct, output should indicate "init MyDbus class Starting webark server."
With Webarok up and running, open a web browser and connect on port 8085. If the browser is on the same machine as the Webarok installation, the address will likely be http://localhost:8085. The interface should be visible and ready for control of Amarok through Webarok. Enjoy!
