XArchive is an adaptable software interface, incorporating external wrappers to support a variety of command line archiving tools.
One of the most impressive features of XArchive is its ability to easily support new archive formats. Users can add new archive formats by writing a wrapper for it and saving it in the wrapper directory. Consequently, adding new archive formats is effortless and doesn't require modifying the XArchive software.
At present, XArchive offers bash shell wrappers for rar, tar, zip, and ace, supporting only read and extract options for ace files. However, users can modify these wrappers or create new ones without touching XArchive software, enabling the software to support other command line tools and file formats.
In the most recent update, XArchive introduces support for adding files to an archive using Drag 'n Drop. Additionally, the software features a few GUI cleanups, enhancing the overall user experience.
