XMidi MX enables MIDI input and output functionality within Macromedia Director.
With XMidi MX, it is easy to create complex and powerful environments that can be used to interact with any MIDI-controllable device. By combining this software with Director and a bit of Lingo programming, I was able to create an incredibly robust system in no time at all.
One of the most impressive features of XMidi MX is its ability to both send and receive System Exclusive messages. Additionally, this software is capable of sending and receiving all MIDI Channel messages, making it extremely versatile and ideal for a wide range of applications.
In order to use this software, I did need to have both Macromedia Director MX and a MIDI interface. However, these are fairly common components for anyone interested in working with MIDI, so it shouldn't be a problem for most users.
One limitation of XMidi MX is that it is a time-limited demo, meaning that after a certain period of use, it will no longer function unless I were to purchase the full version. However, I found that the demo provided me with ample functionality to fully explore the software's capabilities and determine whether or not it would be a good fit for my needs. All in all, I was incredibly impressed with XMidi MX and would highly recommend it to anyone looking to work with MIDI on a Macintosh system.
