ADMLogger

ADMLogger is an exceptional log analyzing engine based on 'fireparse.' As a software developer, I found myself writing multiple scripts based on fireparse, such as the one that informed me of the FTP server's activities. Later, I came up with more use cases such as detecting unauthorized machines getting IP addresses from my DHCP server. Consequently, I decided to extract fireparse's engine and turn it into a universal log analyzer system. I could expand upon it with plugins and resolve bugs more quickly since it now had a more centralized location.

For a regular Linux user, ADMLogger would primarily serve as a means to run fireparse. However, a System Administrator will find it a powerful tool when combined with little Perl programming skills. ADMLogger enables generating e-mail reports that can be plain text or fully operational HTML, depending on the plugin designers' preferences. The system has an HTML preference, but if a plugin ignores the HTML format, it does not affect ADMLogger's performance.

Additionally, ADMLogger removes filtered entries from the main syslog file and relocates them to a secondary document. This way, system admins can easily locate other entries without having to scroll through filtered logs. In the latest release, ADMLogger has improved non-HTML output support for all plugins. Overall, ADMLogger is an excellent tool for any system administrator that needs to analyze log files.
