ALPHAClassic is an analog synthesizer emulator software that replicates the sounds of traditional synthesizers. It provides users with the ability to produce unique sounds and music through a digital platform.
I recently had the pleasure of trying out the Alpha Classic Synthesizer software, and I must say, it exceeded my expectations. The design of the software follows a subtractive model, and it does an excellent job of replicating the warmth and feel of early-1980s analog synthesizers.
What's impressive about the Alpha Classic is its versatility. Despite its simplistic interface, the software presents a range of features that allow users to create exciting and unique sounds. Furthermore, the software comes equipped with over 750 professionally designed presets by Alpha, which are easily accessible through the LinPlug preset browser.
The software boasts features such as up to 24 note polyphonic VST2.0 plugin software synthesizer for MAC and Windows PC, two oscillators with varying waveforms, pitch modulation, amplitude and symmetry modulation from LFO, Envelope or MIDI. The Fat and rich-sounding Multimode filter with saturation; cutoff and resonance modulation from LFO, Envelope and MIDI, and two separate ADSFR envelopes for amplitude and cutoff with adjustable time ranges.
The LFO with six waveforms, variable attack, variable temp sync, switchable Mono-mode, and an adjustable warmth (Precision) are additional features that give the Alpha Classic new life. There is also a modulation matrix with four free assignable slots, 15 sources, 12 destinations, and comprehensive PDF manual.
The software also recognizes velocity and aftertouch (mono and poly) and several controllers. It has Mono- & polyphonic portamento/glide with normal, held, and auto-bend mode, constant rate or time, and allows users to adjust voice limits down to monophony. The presets are easily accessible through the LinPlug ECS for MIDI-CC assignments, and the software can save automation and settings with your song.
In terms of technical requirements, the software requires a minimum of 400 MHz, 256Mb and A/U or VST2.0 capable host software. Alpha itself requires about 8 Mb memory, with limitations being that only a demo version emits a noise about once every minute
