To use SMC, you must install it alongside AVIRA Desktop for Windows or AVIRA for Windows Server in the evaluation or commercial version.
Before making a purchase, note that AVIRA SMC requires supported products, including AVIRA Desktop for Windows, v 1.0.0.75 or newer, and AVIRA for Windows Server, v 1.5.1.4 or newer. The SMC server can only be installed on Windows NT 4.0(SP 6), Windows 2000/2003/XP operating systems. The SMC frontend requires Windows 2000/2003/XP and Microsoft Management Console (MMC) version 1.2 or better. On the other hand, the SMC agent supports Windows 98, ME, Windows NT 4.0(SP 6), Windows 2000/2003/XP Professional and Home Editions. If you're using Windows 98, ME or Windows XP Home Edition, install the agent manually.
Note that AVIRA for Windows Server has to be installed and uninstalled manually. Despite this requirement, the AVIRA SMC is an efficient and reliable antivirus manager that any network administrator would appreciate.
