This Dashboard widget allows quick viewing of current BC Ferries webcam activity.
I recently had the opportunity to use the BC Ferries Widget, a helpful software tool designed to keep users updated on the current status of BC Ferries at all major terminals including Horseshoe Bay, Swartz Bay, Duke Point, Departure Bay, Tsawassen, and Langdale.
One of the best things about this widget is that it pulls its data directly from the BC Ferries website, which means that it provides users with the most up-to-date information available. I found this to be incredibly helpful when trying to plan my travels and make sure that I was arriving at the terminal at the right time.
The latest version of the BC Ferries Widget also comes with a host of additional features that I found to be incredibly useful. For instance, users can now easily re-do comments for future reference, and save their preferences to help streamline the process of opening and closing the iPhone version.
The widget also comes with the ability to expand by removing hard-coded references in favor of variable calls, which I found to be incredibly valuable. This allows users to customize their experience and tailor it to their specific needs.
Additionally, the widget has moved its core data outside of the JavaScript to a supporting plist file, and will hopefully continue to extend this functionality by allowing for external calls to XML documents so URL changes don't require a code rewrite.
