Bluexmms enables remote control of XMMS via a bluetooth-compatible Ericsson mobile device.
I use a Sony Vaio PCG SRX51P/A and an Ericsson T68i phone (now upgraded to a T610) that both come with built-in Bluetooth. I often rely on my laptop to play MP3s through my headphones; however, there are times when I want to move around with my laptop in my bag while still enjoying my music. Thankfully, bluexmms offers a solution to this problem.
By using the Bluetooth protocol and the extended modem command set for the T68i (as well as other Ericsson phones such as the T39m, T610, and T630), it is possible to register a Bluetooth accessory for the phone, which controls XMMS. The requirements for this software are simply XMMS and Bluetooth.
The latest release of bluexmms has made some significant improvements. The software no longer uses system("xmms -[trfs]") and instead uses libxmms-ruby. This change has allowed bluexmms to display track information on the phone, which is a welcomed feature.
Overall, I would highly recommend bluexmms to anyone looking for a straightforward and efficient way to control their XMMS music player via Bluetooth.
