Buzztastic

Buzztastic is an outstanding quiz program designed for teams, which is entirely free, open source, and incredibly user-friendly. It is an Objective-C based application that leverages the power of Cocoa to deliver a seamless experience for users. Buzztastic is highly configurable, allowing users to set specific time limits for the quizzes, creating an atmosphere of competition among participants.

The program functions by presenting a quiz question for a short period of time; as soon as the seconds start to count down, the question's point value is diminished. This setup rewards teams that can supply answers quickly and accurately, as it enables them to score more points.

While the quiz's question is displayed, either of the competing teams may press their answer button. However, the team that presses the button has just a short period to answer the question. If the time allowed for the answer elapses, the team loses the points they would have gained. This feature discourages teams from pressing their buttons prematurely—a clever strategy that adds to the game's competitiveness.

A video projector is necessary to use Buzztastic unless the quiz participants are small enough to huddle around a Mac. Nevertheless, the software remains an excellent option for team quizzes, and its functionality is impressive.
