CGI::Cookie::XS is a Perl module that acts as a HTTP cookie parser and is written in pure C. It offers a very simple parser for cookies used in HTTP applications. This library is still in beta stage and the API is still in flux. However, it has been implemented with a special focus on ensuring that it works in the same way as the latest CGI::Cookie, which is a pure Perl implementation.
We found CGI::Simple::Cookie and CGI::Cookie to be rather slow when profiling it for our OpenResty project, and thus the module was rewritten in C. With CGI::Cookie::XS, you can easily parse raw cookies or directly read them from the CGI environments, providing a convenient and efficient approach to cookie handling in HTTP applications.
The SYNOPSIS shows how easily the module can be used to parse cookies. The $raw_cookie is a raw string containing the cookie data, and $res is the resultant parsed hash. The module is built to follow the "release early, release often" guideline to improve its functionality and performance in the long run.
