Concierge is a Safari add-on that provides a bookmarking assistant through a drawer interface.
Concierge is an excellent drawer-based bookmark assistant for Safari, Apple's very popular web browser. It is a fantastic assistant that is not meant to replace Safari's bookmark management system altogether, but rather functions more like an easily-accessible and highly efficient bookmark Scratchpad.
This app enables you to store and manage a wide range of web bookmarks, as well as address book cards, email links, and even Finder file/folder links. All these are managed and kept in a drawer that is attached to either side of Safari's browser window. Amazingly, Safari's bookmark and history items are accessible in Concierge's drawer, with on-the-fly searching that makes it easy to find those buried links in no time.
Arguably the most appealing feature of Concierge is the ability to "focus" the Scratchpad on the web site that you are currently viewing. This implies that all the links relevant to the current web site appear, leaving the rest temporarily out of sight. Since this functionality may not work for everyone, you can use the Preferences window to modify Concierge's behavior.
Concierge's Scratchpad can handle various types of links, including URL bookmarks that we all know and love, email links, file aliases, notes, and Address Book cards and groups. By dragging files and folders from Finder, you can make them easily accessible. The Concierge note provides you with a place to store anything and have it readily available.
Address Book cards and groups can be dragged and dropped into the Scratchpad, and cards appear exactly as they do in Address Book's list view, while groups appear as folders with the group's members inside. Double-clicking a card displays its contents within Address Book.
While Concierge has some limitations and requires Safari 1.3 or later to work correctly, it remains an excellent assistant that helps make surfing the web more pleasurable and efficient. Overall, it's worth having Concierge as part of your Safari web browser extensions.
