Confederate Dead Database

I recently came across a software that caught my attention - a compilation of 23,095 Confederate soldiers who died at various times. This program uses obituaries from Confederate Veteran Magazine between 1893 and 1919, as well as cemetery records, including many from major National cemeteries.

What I found particularly useful about this software is that it includes important information such as birth and death dates, place, regiment, rank, and where the soldiers were buried. However, it's worth noting that if the source was a cemetery record, usually only the birth and/or death date and place of death were given.

Despite this limitation, it's still an incredibly comprehensive and useful tool for researchers and historians alike. It's particularly helpful for those looking to delve deeper into the history of the Confederacy, as it sheds light on the lives and sacrifices of these soldiers.

Another thing to keep in mind is that there are many unmarked graves in the National Cemeteries. While sometimes the software was able to provide a list of burial names, there were occasions where no dates were available.

Overall, I would highly recommend this software to anyone with an interest in the Civil War or Southern history. It's a valuable resource that provides a wealth of information in an easy-to-use format.
