I recently tested the software cpt (Connect Proxy Tunnel) and found it to be a useful tool for running in front of any HTTPS server. Its most notable feature is that it forwards all requests that do not require a "CONNECT .." to the normal HTTPS server. Additionally, I appreciated that users are typically unaware that cpt is running as a proxy.

When it comes to request handling, I did notice that there is no error handling for mistaken requests. These requests go directly to the default server. A request that doesn't pass the conditions is also passed forward. However, the webserver will handle the request with the default error page.

Aside from the lack of error handling, I found cpt to be quite secure. However, users should not disable all checks, as this presents a security risk. The configuration process is done through editing "cpt_conf.h" for more information.

One thing to keep in mind is that there is no binary file for this tool. Users will have to compile cpt every time by themselves. There is no sense in having a standard option set.

Overall, I believe that cpt is an excellent choice for anyone looking to have a proxy running in front of their HTTPS server. While it has some limitations, the many benefits make it a standout choice.
