DarwinPorts offers Mac users access to a vast collection of over 3000 open source software titles, or "ports", making it one of the most comprehensive and current collections available for Mac OS X. This software functions similarly to the ports collections found in popular BSD operating systems.
The latest release comes equipped with a variety of helpful updates, including an enhanced syntax for the port(1) command, compressed man pages to save space, and the ability to install multiple ports at the same time. Additionally, new meta-groups have been implemented for executing commands, and launchd is now used on 10.4 (with SystemStarter on 10.3).
