DashboardStarter is a simple software tool that launches Dashboard quickly and immediately exits it. It is designed to improve the user’s experience by providing easy access to Dashboard.
As a software review, I can say that Dashboard is a wonderful addition to Tiger. However, there is one downside to it - there can be a significant delay in the time it takes to load and refresh its widgets when you bring it up for the first time.
To get around this issue, I came up with a solution - a small application called DashboardStarter. With this app, Dashboard comes up and then closes immediately which, in turn, prompts it to load the widgets in the background.
With a tiny file size of just 24K, you can easily add DashboardStarter to your login items by going to System Preferences › Accounts › Login Items. This will ensure that by the time you bring up Dashboard again, everything is already loaded and ready to go.
Overall, Dashboard is a great feature of Tiger and with DashboardStarter, the only downside is almost completely eliminated.
