Dedalo is a fantastic software that allows you to automatically draw network topology of a Cisco network using CDP and SNMP. The software was created by the great minds behind the "Complements of network management" course held by Dr. Luca Deri. When you download the software, you will find a comprehensive and easy-to-understand pdf guide that explains the compilation process and how to use Dedalo.
One slight downside of Dedalo is that the pdf guide is currently only available in Italian. But, if you experience any troubles compiling or using the software, you can always send an email to get assistance.
Upon testing, it has been observed that Dedalo works remarkably well with almost every Cisco network. Unfortunately, the software cannot draw topology well for Catalyst 6500's. This is due to the inconsistencies we encountered on the port names announced by CDP.
Overall, Dedalo is an excellent software for drawing network topology, and we would love to get feedback on how useful it is and how well it functions.
